JayNest press kit
Know what's in every box. JayNest is an app for keeping track of things at home, in the garage and in the workshop: rooms, containers, items and QR labels that show what's inside when you scan them.

What is JayNest
There are more things than anyone can remember, and the boxes on a shelf all look the same. In JayNest you list your rooms, shelves, boxes and items, with photos. Every box gets its own QR label: print it, stick it on, and later just scan it with the regular phone camera to see what's inside, without taking the box down.
The app also keeps track of what happens to your things: who borrowed the drill, when a warranty ends, which supplies are running low. It works without an account and without internet, and the data stays on the phone. With a JayNest account the catalog syncs between phone, tablet and browser.
Who it's for
- People sorting out a basement, attic or garage who want to find things there later.
- People moving house: what's in which carton.
- DIYers and collectors: drill bits by diameter, figures by series and scale.
- Anyone who lends things out and wants them back.
Features
- QR labels: for boxes and items, printed one at a time or as an A4 sheet for a whole cupboard. A box can move, and its label keeps working.
- Search and filters: searches names, descriptions, tags and loans; every result shows the full path, e.g. Garage › Shelf › Box 2.
- Categories and properties: 19 main categories with suggested fields, e.g. drill bit diameter, shoe size, figure series.
- A photo instead of typing: on iPhone the app reads text and the barcode from the packaging and fills in the name, category and properties.
- Your own AI model: anyone running a language model at home (e.g. LM Studio) or holding their own API key can use it to recognize photos; the photos go only there, never to JayNest.
- Loans: who has it and until when, with a ready-made SMS reminder.
- Supplies: things that get used up, with a note when they run low.
- Needs Attention: warranties, expiry and return dates in one place, with one weekly summary instead of many notifications.
- Trash: deleted things can be restored for 30 days.
- Tablets and foldables: columns like the Finder on wide screens.
Privacy
No ads, no tracking and no analytics in the app. Without an account, data and photos stay on the phone. With an account, the catalog is stored on a server in Germany. Details in the privacy policy.
